News: libUSB is now in the feed (currently version 1.10), which makes the remarks below mainly of historical interest. See http://libusb.sourceforge.net for more info on the library.

Old entry - historical interest

During alpha testing, it became evident that libusb uses a number of non-portable code idioms. It does silly stuff, like reading packed binary data into structures, expecting things to just magically align themselves in memory :(

As a result of this, libusb 0.1.8 does not work properly and has been removed from the list of packages.

Anyone willing to put in the effort to fix libusb should start by reading the unslung Makefile for the libusb package.

NOTE: There is an patched version from http://webuser.fh-furtwangen.de/~dersch/ Helmut Dersch that have been working in most cases. It is includes in Helmuts's Remote Gphoto package. http://webuser.fh-furtwangen.de/~dersch/gphoto/remote.html http://webuser.fh-furtwangen.de/~dersch/gphoto/gphoto.zip
